Privacy
We collect limited information needed to operate this site and review collaboration enquiries. We use no advertising or tracking cookies by default. This draft notice explains what we collect, why, and the choices available to you.
What we collect
There are no user accounts on this site. If you submit a collaboration enquiry, we collect your name and email; any organisation, role and country or region you provide; and the collaboration type, research area, project summary, relevant links, data and funding descriptions, and message you enter. We also receive the page URL, referrer, language, form and version identifiers, request origin and submission time, plus any supported UTM or advertising click identifiers already present in the page URL. The enquiry record includes the permission wording you accepted and a receipt identifier.
Cookies & analytics
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. A privacy-respecting analytics adapter exists in the code but stays disabled unless a provider is explicitly configured; none is enabled by default. Your cookie choice is stored locally in your browser, not in a cookie, so declining sets nothing.
The collaboration form
The browser sends the enquiry to Octopus's self-use Tracka service, where it enters a pending inbox for authorised operators to review, respond to, deduplicate and understand its source. After human review, an operator may associate it with an existing contact or organisation, record an acquisition touchpoint, or create a collaboration opportunity; a receipt does not mean the enquiry has been accepted. We retain enquiry and review records only as long as reasonably needed for follow-up, consent and duplicate evidence, and applicable operational or legal obligations. File upload is disabled. Do not submit health records, identity documents, sensitive research data or confidential datasets; we will arrange a secure channel when needed.
Manual review, not automated profiling
We do not access your browsing history or saved credentials, use enquiry data for advertising, or make automated acceptance decisions. During manual review, authorised operators may compare an enquiry with existing Octopus contact or organisation records to avoid duplicates and understand prior interactions.
Your requests
For a privacy request — including access, correction or deletion — contact us at the address in the footer. If possible, include the form receipt so we can locate the record without asking for unnecessary information. We will respond and handle the request subject to applicable operational and legal requirements.
