Corrections and retractions

We record corrections and retractions rather than concealing them. Concealing an error is a worse failure than making it.

This is draft content provided for transparency and requires legal review before it is relied upon.

How corrections work

Publications are versioned and their version history is shown, so a correction is visible as a change rather than a silent edit. Consolidated Research Objects keep their permanent id across corrections.

Retractions

When a result no longer stands, we retract it with a visible notice rather than deleting it. The record of what was claimed, and why it was withdrawn, remains.

Report an inaccuracy

If you believe something here is inaccurate, tell us via the Collaborate page. We will investigate and, where warranted, correct it and publish a correction notice.

Correction over concealment

Our default is to correct the record openly. This is one of the principles the whole site is built to uphold.
